Strada de C’Arte Festival

Strada de C’Arte is the biggest cultural event outdoors ever organized in Bucharest.  One of the largest boulevards in Bucharest and three other streets were transformed in a pedestrian area between the 17th and 24th of September 2011. It was organized for and by BCU ( The Central University Library), under the authority of the Ministry of Education.

It included “The Book Street” - with 14 publishing houses and book stands created especially for the event by architecture bureau Tecon, “The Architecture Street” - with specialized books, Igloo Media exhibitions, Readers lounge, parametric architecture seminars, “The Children’s Street – with creativity seminars of calligraphy, painting and sculpture developed by IMDD (The Institute for the Management of Sustainable Development). It also featured theater shows, concerts, awarded movies, cultural conferences and book launches inside the  BCU headquarters, public debates and guided tours of the library headquarters (a beautiful historical building).

Cultural personalities, over 15,000 people attending, over 200 hits in the media, over 10,000 books sold. The soundtrack of the streets was provided by Radio Guerrilla. The 2012 edition is now in the making. For more information please visit
